Since 2012, Fender® has made thimbles in various sizes in factories in Korea and China. The tolerances are all over the board. WE MAKE ONE VINTAGE SPEC THIMBLE that fits into any USA made guitar produced prior to 2012. If you need to open your wood holes up, start by using a 3/8” bit and drilling in REVERSE. This usually cleans the hole out and widens it to accept our .374” vintage spec OD thimbles.

You have a Korean made “AOM” bridge, which is an interpretation of a Gibson “Nashville” threaded post TOM style bridge (check “I have an AOM/TOM bridge” on our which bridge to buy page). Gibson style TOM/AOM bridges were never intended for guitars with vibratos. Since the wood hole is wider, you’ll need to dowel the hole and use a 3/8” bit to accommodate our .374” OD vintage spec thimbles. As a tip, remove the mounting posts on our M1 bridge and use the holes in the baseplate as guides to where to drill.

If you do not have an extractor bit, take a drill bit that fits the inside diameter of your current thimbles and with a cordless hand drill, insert the bit, angle it slightly, and turn it slowly. While turning, slowly lift up. The bit will catch on the metal and pull the thimble out while lifting up. Some heat the old thimbles with a soldering gun before doing this. That’s fine too. There are a few Fender® models where the thimble lip is inserted flush with the guitar and painted over. if you have that, be sure to scribe the paint before removing, otherwise you don’t need to scribe. Your already existing vintage style thimbles are fairly easy to replace. If you need assistance replacing them, please contact your local luthier.

Bridges: Our Offset, Ric, Hardtail, and Archtop bridges are ambidextrous and can be installed on right handed or left handed guitars. Sadly, do not make tele bridges for lefties 🙁

Offset Vibratos: The OMVL, OMVLP, and OMV Black are for our lefties. Don’t forget to upgrade to a kit with the bridge, vibrato, and MT thimbles.

Mastery Vibratos: For new builds, we recommend the MVL or MVLP.

If your J Mascis Squier has an AOM bridge, check out the M10.1 and the OMVN-AOM-KIT but be sure to check the box at the bottom to include the larger thimbles required for this guitar when checking out.

The M10 provides the same performance as our original stainless steel M1, but with a machined (not cast) aircraft-grade aluminum baseplate that is polished and bright nickel plated.

These vibratos require no modifications to the guitar and will fit on every standard Offset style footprint. New, used, vintage and imported.
